About Aliya
I've always been drawn to people's stories: what makes us human, how we understand and express ourselves, and how we find belonging and connection in the world.
That fascination has brought me on an amazing career journey from being a piano demonstrator and connecting with people through music, to interviewing people as a reporter, to providing expertise in inclusive practice to colleagues in the charity and mental health sectors.
My love of connection lit a fire within me for social justice. I'm fiercely passionate about tackling inequalities, celebrating diversity, and making the spaces I'm part of feel truly inclusive. The wedding industry, like any other, has a long way to go until everyone has equal rights and is treated with respect, but I won't give up fighting for a fairer future for all.
And I won't stop celebrating everyone
for who they are.
I see every ceremony I create and every interaction I have as an opportunity to celebrate you.
By taking the time to get to know you and your world, I create beautiful bespoke ceremonies that tell your story, symbolise what's most significant to you, and stay true to who you are.
And there are no limits to how we do this – as an independent celebrant, I have the joy of crafting ceremonies that take the rule book and doodle all over it, highlight your favourite parts, or completely discard it!

At the moment, celebrant ceremonies are not legally binding in the UK, but we’re working hard to change that!
The difference between legally registering your marriage and a celebrant ceremony, to me, is like signing the contract for your house and hosting a housewarming party. The legal part is, of course, significant and important, but it’s not the most entertaining for your guests or the way that really reflects and celebrates you!
Legal ceremonies simply aren't created with the time, effort, and relationship building that independent celebrant ceremonies are all about.
They are not fully gender inclusive, and they don't provide all the freedoms to do your ceremony your way.
If you want an authentic and affirming ceremony, why not get married legally at a registry office before your big day?
Depending on which borough you do this in, this can cost between £60 to £80. That gets the legalities sorted before the main event – your wedding day! – with a ceremony crafted with care, a ceremony that’s memorable, meaningful and totally you!
Unlike legal registrations of marriage, celebrant ceremonies don't require you to have your wedding at a licensed wedding venue, meaning you can celebrate your love anywhere. From your back garden to the beach, your ceremony can take place somewhere that matters to you!
